Restart Your Body In Just 10 Days!

“Did you restart it?”

My wife just the other day was expressing her disdain for her iPhone.  It wasn’t loading apps, it was performing slowly, and it was down right dysfunctional.  So I asked her, “Did you restart it?”  The answer this time was ‘no.’  Sure enough, one restart and the device was back in action.  As cool and amazing as devices are these days and how simple a restart is to many times ‘fix’ them, your body just doesn’t work that way - well not exactly at least.  Even though the body is referred to as a ‘machine’, it is much more than that - way more.  Unfortunately many people wait and depend on a ‘replacement’ part to save their life in a crisis - but it’s on a surgeons table.  Sometimes ‘successful’, sometimes not.  So rather than wait and end up in a surgeon’s office for ‘replacement parts,’ why not do some regular ‘restarts’, just like a computer or an iPhone?  Interesting yes?  Well check this out:  Your body, mind, and spirit over time become ‘habitual’ and many times addicted to certain things, especially foods.  Organs become overworked, damaged, and dysfunctional over time.  Not too mention the system becomes bogged down and very inefficient.  So rather than throwing down steak, eggs, and hash-browns, what if it were a protein smoothie?  For that midmorning snack that usually is a donut, bagel, or other refined carb, try a live fresh juice.  Then at lunch, not a cheeseburger and fries with a soda, oh no.  One more protein smoothie.  Afternoon snack, right back to the juice.  And for dinner you ask?  How about a smart meal composed of one portion of quality lean and clean protein, one portion of good healthy fats, and 1-2 portions of vegetables.  Then the next day repeat, and the next, and the next, and so on.  For a measly 10 days.  Do this and not only will you feel better, have more energy, and lose weight, but most importantly you will have effectively ‘restarted’ your body without a full-out ‘fast.’  This would be classified as a very moderate program or ‘restart’ for your body’s metabolism, immune system, digestion, and function.  
Sounds good you say?  But where do you start you may be asking?  Start with your equipment list.  That would be a blender, a juicer, and 4 mason jars.  Next you will find the instructions, ingredients, and timing to absolutely nail this ‘restart’ and finish strong!  Good luck!

That’s the basic concept.  Next comes the fun part where you get to be a little creative, while keeping it simple though.  Just choose your ‘base’ ingredient(s), your add-ins, add your supplements and you are rolling.  You will need some basic knowledge of how to blend and run a juicer, but that information is out there in abundance, and many folks already know how.  Here we go:
Bases: Almond milk, coconut milk, water, coconut water.  (Choose 1-2 max)  Add ice. Bases: Carrot, apple, celery, cucumber.  (Choose 1-2 max)
Add-Ins Strawberries, Blueberries, Banana, Nut butter, Blackberries, Raspberries, Spinach, Romaine, Kale, Cilantro. (Choose 3 max) Add-Ins Beets, Cabbage, Celery, Chard, Ginger, Turmeric, Lemon, Spinach, Romaine, Kale, Cilantro. (Choose 3 max)
Supplementation: Protein Powder & Greens Powder Supplementation: *none in the juice
Tips and tricks: Make 2 servings of smoothie & juice each time you break out the blender / juicer.  Put the second serving in a jar and refrigerate.  When it’s time to consume, shake it up or re-blend.  Voila’.    

That wasn’t too hard to handle was it?  Next, people always ask me what supplements I use or recommend.  This is a very vast industry.  There is a lot of junk out there too.  The most expensive supplement is the one that DOESN’T WORK by the way, so invest wisely.  Below is the short list of the best ones for this particular program that I have ever found.  I’m sure there are others I don’t know about, but again, this is my short list:

Dinner is ridiculously simple.  Your plate will consist of 1 serving of clean & lean protein & 1-2 servings of vegetables (lightly steamed or raw).  Speaking of protein, check out the approved dinner protein choices in the table below.  The animal products you consume MUST be the absolute best, don’t skimp here.  Remember you can always apply some time saving tips and tricks of cooking multiple servings of protein having that ready to just re-heat or eat cold for dinners.  Below you will find your approved foods, shopping guide, and what ingredients you must buy organic that have high pesticide residue counts and which ingredients you can buy conventional to save some cash.   Or if you are like me, you can grow your own produce with a Tower Garden and have zero worries about toxicity or low nutrient density.  If weight loss and blood sugar levels are a concern, choose lower glycemic items for your juicing, smoothies, and meals.

As you can see there is no doubt a little time, preparation, and commitment involved here, but I’ve found this program to be an excellent option for many people, especially those who need something that’s not too far reaching that they can actually see themselves achieving.  
What to do after the 10 days you ask?  Just be smart.  Personally I would recommend the Maximized Living Nutrition Plans as a default way to eat.  As well, you could continue this program for up to 30 days or more if you choose to.  Set a goal, and get ‘er done!  Good luck!

'I Gotta' Go!'

When you hear those words, and they are from a child, you know exactly what it means and you better hurry!  In fact, I was at my 9 yr old’s first baseball game just this past weekend, and a young girl, probably about 3 yrs old was screaming to her mother, ‘I gotta’ go, I gotta’ go!’, but her mom was a little distracted by the game and didn’t hear her…most of you think you know what comes next and that’s wet pants.  BUT this little girl surprised us all and simply sat on the ground, pulled down her drawers, and went right there in the grass.  Yes, that happened.  So when I heard her saying, ‘I gotta’ go, I gotta’ go!’ repeatedly, it took me back a few months ago with a ‘somewhat’ similar situation for myself.  I was sitting in a room of about 100 Maximized Living Doctors and we were getting the debriefing on our assignments, opportunities, and calendar for taking care of the world teams in this Olympic year.  When I found out that the Olympic Wrestling Trials were in Iowa City and I could go, I repeatedly, internally, kept yelling to myself, ‘I gotta’ go, I gotta’ go!’   So I applied for the opportunity and prayed and prayed some more.  And wouldn’t you know it, as Psalm 118:26 states, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord…’ I was BEYOND BLESSED with this opportunity to travel to Iowa City April 20-22 to represent the Wellness Advisory Council of Maximized Living and USA Wrestling!  Looking forward to simply being present there and soaking it all in.  But more importantly, I’m looking forward to being there and CONTRIBUTING to the US winning gold this coming summer.  You see, wrestlers specifically REQUIRE structural corrective type Chiropractic or plain and simply, their spine rots about 100x as fast as the typical American.  Destroying their quality of life, causing a lifetime of extreme pain, and developing disease and dysfunction.  Oh, and did I mention squash their performance levels?  These men and women (yes, the ladies get to play too now, and it’s incredible to witness by the way) need our help on a massive level.  So it’s my pleasure and honor to be able to travel to Iowa City this weekend and be a part of something very exciting.  God is good! 
What I don’t want any of my readers to forget, however, is that YOU are an Olympian in your own right.  Whether you are a mom, a dad, a CEO, or a janitor, YOU MATTER.  Medals are cool and the more the better for the USA, but a society of healthy, functional, balanced, and drug free citizens is when REAL GOLD is won.  Our purpose in Maximized Living and the Wellness Advisory Council is not simply to adjust athletes to win more medals.  Our purpose is to represent ALL that Maximized Living is about, every essential, so that these athletes when their careers are over, not only performed at their best, but they then go on to be what we call, a ‘Maximizer’, just like many of you.  Help us continue to help our communities, country, and world win GOLD in life by living the 5 essentials.  Below is the link and site for the event.  It’s going to be epic!

Woman Kills Her Family In Grocery Store

(Satire) Not sure if everyone heard this on the news yet or not.  Seems like things of this nature always seem to make the news.  This story however has a bit of a different twist.  Not the typical murder or murder suicide.  This one is a poisoning – and apparently an UNINTENTIONAL one.
Everyone knows that you can’t drink Clorox, Mercury, 409, Mr. Clean, or Windex and expect to live.  What this woman, like many people didn’t know however, is that by not reading and understanding food labels she was poisoning her family to a slow death.  It all started with her children’s love of Ketchup.  Little did she know that the High Fructose Corn Syrup in the Ketchup was not only damaging in and of itself1, but it was tainted with Mercury2 as well.  The next clue came when it was discovered that her oldest daughter loved ‘Ranch’ dressing.  Again, not knowing it contained MSG, a known carcinogen3.  Another clue came when tracking this ‘killer’ once investigators examined her baby’s bottle.  It appeared that the woman was unknowingly feeding her child Arsenic4, even though she thought she was doing the right thing in feeding the baby ‘Organic’ infant formula.  Then came one of the worst discoveries.  Her middle child loved Fruit Loops.  He would eat about 2-3 bowls of fruit loops per day.  This product was laden with hydrogenated vegetable oil, red coloring 40, blue colorings 2 and 1, yellow coloring 6, and BHT5.  The Material Safety Data Sheet on BHT reads “Do not let this chemical enter the environment, combustible, ingestion causes abdominal pain, confusion, dizziness, nausea, & vomiting, may affect the liver, and is harmful to aquatic organisms6.  And the final clue in this murder mystery was the milk7.  She had no idea that when she was pouring on the regular commercial dairy milk that her child was ingesting a synthetic hormone rBGH8, which were given to the cow to increase her milk production.  As well, the cow was loaded with antibiotics because she lives in such close quarters with other cattle the ‘farmer’ had to control the spread of infection somehow.  Equally concerning was the food this cow ate.  It consumed a diet of chemically sprayed grains mainly along with a mixture of what’s called ‘rendered food’7.  Rendered food is a concoction of cooking down dead animal carcasses like other cattle, pigs, chickens, dogs, and cats.

Don't Put Your Health First!!!

Okay, many of you probably just fell off of your chair or fainted when you read that title.  Has Dr. Ochsner lost his mind?  He is constantly telling us to ALWAYS put our health first.  Today I'm going to challenge this concept though from a different reality.  I am going to use a spiritual metaphor to teach this concept today.  Many of us have been taught to always put God first.  For instance, in the Chiropractic profession, many of us were taught that the order goes God – Family – Chiropractic.  We’ve repeated that mantra for years and years until it’s almost ClichĂ©.  But not long ago, I heard it said a little differently.  My mentor said, ‘Don’t put God first.  Put Him at the CENTER of EVERYTHING.’  Bam, right hook, uppercut, knockout.  Holy cow, had we missed it for hundreds of years.  Many had lead almost 3 separate lives with God being one of them, their family the other, and Chiropractic yet one more.
Now enter Health.  Many of you lead different lives as you attempt to put health at the top.  To start with, it’s my personal belief that not only should God be at the center of everything, but your HEALTH should be at the center of everything too.  What’s crazy is people many times believe that God has already chosen the script for their life so ‘why bother’ with healthy lifestyle choices.  Many would also argue that since their mom, dad, sister, or brother had a disease, they will also get it because it ‘runs in the family.’  But I’ve watched, witnessed, and lead people right through both of these false mindsets.  You see, if God already wrote the script, then you are supposed to be reading this.  And the question I have for you is if you drank 10 gallons of Clorox right now, what would happen?  You would die.  Because you broke a physical law of Gods called, you can’t drink poison and survive.  So now, enter in packaged, processed, refined foods.  Poison.  Now enter in Subluxation in your spine.  Poison.  Now enter in Vaccines.  49 doses of 14 vaccines with multiple toxic cancer causing ingredients that are foreign to the body.  Poison.  Now enter in emotional stress and not processing it, harboring resentment or even worse, hate.  Allow that to manifest physically in your body creating disease.  Poison.  Now one develops Cancer.  Which is a RESULT not a source cause.  And how is it treated?  Poison.  What’s crazy to me is as we have been taught to put our health first, it hasn’t worked out, and it simply leads to a poisoning of our body and the development of disease.  Period.  So I ask you to instead of putting your health first, put your health choices at the CENTER of everything you do, right beside God.  Honor God with your body.  I'm not preaching perfection, but do it right nearly every time.  Make a mistake?  No worries, you are human and last I checked, mistakes are mandatory.  But don’t quit.  Don’t give up.  Get back on track right away. 
Imagine you are packing for a trip.  And instead of your typical ‘pack and prep list’ like rental car address, hotel address, toiletries, clothes, underwear, and socks, your pack and prep list starts with something like this:
Find closest Maximized Living doctor to keep up adjustment schedule. Pack sleep aids and standing cervical traction unit.  Raw nuts and seeds for snacks while traveling along with live fruits and some veggies.  All supplements and vitamins.  Double the dosage of my Vit D3 and Perfect Ratio Omega while flying.  Research closest Organic grocery store to airport or hotel.  Go stock up on health food and beverages for the hotel room.  Pack Bible for reading material along with Cruise Ship or Nursing Home book.  Find Church close by where we can attend and worship.
See the difference?  When you put your health at the CENTER of everything you do right along side God, you can leave things like wheel chair, walker, prescriptions, oxygen tank, and local hospital address off of your ‘prep and pack list.’  How hard is that?  Someone just said in their head though, ‘what a sacrifice!’  But it’s not a sacrifice.  It’s simply a choice.  Will you make the right one?  And help someone else to do the same?  Our practice is waiting for your friends and family to also receive the blessings that you are.  Send them right away.  Before it’s too late.  God bless.

Access To Early Death Anyone?

Whitney Houston, dead at 48.  As I write this the autopsy has been completed, however, the results not released.  But the lesson already exists in my humble opinion.  NO MATTER WHAT THE AUTOPSY SHOWS.  Allow me to share.
The argument of the proponents of healthcare reform greatly revolves around easier ‘access’ to healthcare.  Of course it’s important to define what ‘healthcare’ means when people refer to it in this context, and that’s plain and simply doctors, testing, drugs, and surgeries – or medical care.  Those proponents repeat the mantra that if our people had easier access to medical care, we would not be in the health crisis we are and we could transform our level of health in America. 
As you process that, it probably sounds like a novel and noble idea.  People are sick, right?  Yes, sicker than ever.  So if we give them MORE medical care (tests, drugs and surgeries) this would improve our health as a whole one would be led to believe.  The assumption here, however, is that the medical care system in America works and is effective.  We know it’s the most expensive in the world, but does it work – REALLY work?  Statistics show it’s dangerous, ineffective and it gets minimal results. (Feel free to research that on your own if you don’t believe me.)  In fact, it’s one of the worst in the world.  Statistics aside, let’s take some real world examples of people who have not only the easiest access to medical care, but access to the BEST medical care and any doctor of their choice, with no limitations of managed care and HMO’s – celebrities. 

Whitney Houston.  Police discovered a half dozen bottles of medication in Houston's room, TMZ reported, adding that family members said Houston had been taking the prescription drug Xanax, which is often used to treat anxiety. 

Michael Jackson.  Had his own medical doctor in his home.  Had the EASIEST access to medical care.  The pop-icon died and was on a COCKTAIL of Rx drugs.

John Ritter. The Hollywood actor from ‘Three’s Company’ had an aortic aneurism.  He died the same day.  Two years earlier, he had a TOTAL BODY SCAN, which detected no abnormalities in his heart or aorta.  So much for early detection.

Heath Ledger.  Australian film actor died at age 28 while taking properly prescribed psychotropic medications for his depression.

Brittany Murphy. Drug list:  Topamax (anti-seizure meds also to prevent migraines), Methylprednisolone (anti-inflammatory), Fluoxetine (depression med), Klonopin (anxiety med), Carbamazepine (treats Diabetic symptoms and is also a bipolar med), Ativan (anxiety med), Vicoprofen (pain reliever), Propranolol (hypertension, used to prevent heart attacks), Biaxin (antibiotic), Hydrocodone (pain med) and miscellaneous vitamins.  It was probably the vitamins.

Tim Russert. The famous news host of ‘Meet The Press’ died at age 58, only 8 wks after passing a cardiac stress test.  He was exercising & taking cholesterol meds, aspirin, and blood pressure drugs.  This classic approach obviously didn’t work for him, so why do you think it will work for you or anyone you love?

AND THESE ARE JUST THE CELEBRITIES, THE ONE’S WE HEAR ABOUT ON THE NEWS!  There are hundreds of thousands of others out there!!!  People just like you and your family.  It’s clearly evident that the PROBLEM is the medical care SYSTEM.  What people need more access to is a different system - the Maximized Living Healthcare Delivery System – it’s time to EXTEND lives, not SHORTEN them.  I’ll be reviewing that system and it’s amazing results over FREE dinner on Monday, February 27th at CafĂ©’ Gaston in Orland Park.  Seating is limited, who will YOU be bringing to dinner?
